The 4-5in blooms are creamy white with petals perfectly edged in lilac. Melody Dixie is compact, only 22-24in tall, and free branching. It is ideal for the front of a mixed border. It will flower in mid to late summer and autumn, when most gardens are past their best. It prefers full sun, though partial shade is acceptable, with a rich, moist soil. Dahlias are easily over-wintered indoors

Hemerocallis, or Daylillies are hardy perennials producing a wide range of trumpet-like flowers over a lengthy summer season. They are tolerant of many differing soil conditions, preferring full sun to more shady locations. Dixie Rooster is a relatively new variety, first registered in 2004.
